Planning guide
How to prepare for a first grooming visit
Simple steps that help your dog, and you, feel ready.
Get your dog used to handling
In the days before, gently touch your dog’s paws, ears and face, and brush them for a few minutes. Short, calm sessions with a treat help grooming feel normal.
Tell the groomer about your dog
Share your dog’s age, size and coat, and anything that worries them, like dryers, nail trims or strangers. Mention any health issues the groomer should know about. Ask what they need from you before the visit.
Keep the day calm
Take your dog for a walk and a toilet break before you arrive. Keep the drop-off short and cheerful. Ask the groomer to call or message you when your dog is ready.
