How coat type affects a grooming request
Why groomers ask about your dog’s coat, and how to describe it.
Coats need different care
A short, smooth coat may only need a bath and brush. A double coat sheds a lot and needs a thorough brush-out. Curly or wavy coats keep growing, so they need regular haircuts to stay comfortable and tidy.
Describe what you see
You do not need to know the coat name. Say whether your dog sheds, whether the hair keeps growing and whether it tangles. Mention any mats, especially behind the ears, under the legs and on the tummy.
Coat shapes the visit
The coat affects how long the groom takes and which tools the groomer uses. Clear details help the groomer plan the right service and give you a realistic time for the visit.
